You'll never guess where I am right now friends!
I am sitting in my new office! Yayy!
Alas I am complete with the hardest part of the office! The painting! Ahhhh.... I'm so glad that they turned out really well but I'm even more glad to be done. It was a lot of work. But the room looks bigger, brighter, newer and cozier!
Of course I started to do the organizing of the office supplies, my desk, and the closet. Which certainly turned into a
disaster simple process. Just joking it's all still in the center of the floor in baskets and bags waiting to be sorted out. My desk is in place though! I love the cottage look and my desk is currently pretty modern with the chrome and the glass but I bought it a few years ago and the "L" shape comes seriously in handy! So for right now it works out great especially since I do everything on my desktop. (My laptop is inherited and a little slow though totally functional.)
As I mentioned before I really dislike cords. I dislike cable cords, power cords, charger cords, cords in general are just not my favorite things ever. So! Luckily I had this random hunk of beadboard to put my desk against.... and another random hunk of beadboard that....
Covered up my unsightly cords! I am sooo sneaky. Of course it looks really great but the behind the scenes truth is that I run my internet off of a cable modem because I have Optimum in my area. Did you know that there's a difference between an internet cable and a TV cable?
Eh. I didn't.
Thankfully Justin did. We spent an hour and a half trying to reset the different cables to get the right connection so my internet would work again. There are at least 6 cables for a three bedroom house. Go figure. I'm glad that we have cell phones so I didn't have to run around the house at 1:00 am shouting;
"Not that one."
What would I do without being able to blog?? On a happy note I did find these basket weave plastic tubs at Wal-Mart today for 2.00 a piece. They actually don't look too bad either! One can hold the different binders that I need for my major program and the other one holds my decorating magazines and inspiratia-log. It's neat and orderly and all within reach!
I still have big plans for the office! I need to install more shelving in the closet... shelving about my desk for the cute containers I have for my pens, pencils, and other office supplies.... I need wall art...
I'm going to buy this when I get paid next;
etsy.com source I love the vintage-ness of the WWI propaganda poster recreation. Something about it is so classic and inspirational almost. I am not certain I'll get it in yellow but there are a ton of different colors to choose from!
Since I'm sort of going for a cottage look in my office I also want to create something that looks sort of like this;
etsy.com source Thankfully I have an old book (or can get one at a thrift store really cheap) and I also have a VERY artistic boyfriend so this I can create free of charge and just put in little frames for the bookshelf that will go just to the right of my window.
PS I am partying at Shabby Chic Cottage!and
